History
The band emerged under the name Cane Hill in 2014 after several line-up changes since the Barnett brothers initially formed the group in 2011. Members Elijah Witt, James Barnett, Bemo Barnett, Ryan Henriquez, and Colt Dimaio took the name from an abandoned psychiatric hospital in the United Kingdom. On October 8, 2014, they released their debut single "Sunday School" with a music video and announced they had signed with Rise Records. The music video for "Time Bomb" featured former Issues member Tyler "Scout" Acord.
The single "OxBlood" was released on September 17, 2015, with a music video. Cane Hill toured as a supporting act on Stick To Your Guns and Blessthefall's headlining U.S. tour from October 20 to November 22, 2015, alongside Emarosa and Oceans Ate Alaska. Their debut self-titled EP was released on October 23, 2015, through Rise Records. In January 2016, the band entered the studio with producer WZRD BLD in Los Angeles to begin work on Smile, recording over four weeks.
They supported Bullet For My Valentine and Asking Alexandria on the Attention Army of Noise U.S. tour from April 30 to May 29, 2016, and Atreyu's headlining U.S. tour from March 4 to 28, 2016. On April 22, 2016, they released the single "The (New) Jesus" and announced their debut album Smile, released on July 15, 2016. The music video for that single sparked controversy. Further singles "True Love" and "You're So Wonderful" followed.
Cane Hill performed on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour from June 24 to August 13, 2016, supported Insane Clown Posse on the Riddle Box Tour from September 22 to October 15, 2016, and toured Europe with Bullet for My Valentine and Killswitch Engage in fall 2016. In fall 2017, they supported Superjoint and Devildriver, with King Parrot and Child Bite also joining the tour.
