Plot

Isaiah Bone, a martial artist with a past as a marine and an ex-convict, finds a room to rent in a Los Angeles boardinghouse run by a woman named Tamara. One night, he watches an underground fight featuring the local champion, Hammerman. Afterward, Bone strikes a deal with a promoter called Pinball: Pinball gets 20% of Bone's earnings, or 40% if he risks his own money. Bone wins his first fight with just two kicks.

That same evening, he meets mob boss James and his girlfriend, Angela Soto. Pinball explains that James framed Angela's husband, Danny, for a triple homicide, landing him in prison, which led Angela into drug addiction. Over the next few nights, Bone defeats every opponent, making thousands of dollars for himself and Pinball. He also grows close to Tamara, her young adopted son Jared, and an elderly man named Roberto.

After Bone beats the previously undefeated Hammerman, James offers him a new challenge: the international underground fighting circuit is controlled by arms dealer Franklin McVeigh, and James wants Bone to fight the reigning champion, Pretty Boy Price. Bone says he'll think it over. He then tells Angela that Danny was his cellmate and friend, and that Danny was killed by another inmate. Angela reveals that after Danny went to prison, she had a son but lost custody and doesn't know if the child is still alive. Bone promises to reunite her with her son, but first sends her to a drug rehab clinic until she is ready.
