Critical reception
Princess P received mixed reviews from music critics. A writer from AllMusic described the album as light and fluffy but called it a pleasurable pop concoction. Adam B. Vary of Entertainment Weekly noted that the hard-edged club tracks, particularly "I'm So Hot," were the least winning, while the hook-soaked "Get Bizzy" (co-written by Bennett's mother Jamecia) gave the album its kick. Elysa Gardner of USA Today observed that Bennett and her team relied on tried-and-true pop-R&B formulas, yet the album retained enough homespun charm to keep listeners rooting for her. In a dual review with Elliott Yamin's debut, Vibe writer Sean Fennessey criticized the upbeat pop material for misusing Bennett's vocals to the point of anonymity, concluding that she never seemed to be herself.
Singles
"Ordinary Love" was the debut single from Paris Bennett, who finished fifth on American Idol's fifth season. The song was produced by Jon Jon Traxx and J. Isaac but failed to chart. Its music video, filmed on January 12 in Minneapolis and directed by Danny Kimura, featured Dustin Breeding of boy band B5 as the leading man and Bennett's high school friends. The video shows Bennett discovering Breeding flirting with another girl, then transitions to the song "I'm So Hot" with dancing in a studio. It premiered on Yahoo! Music on April 23, 2007.
