Where Shadow bets his head on a game of checkers with Czernobog.
Chicago appears in the first season of the TV series American Gods. After Shadow refuses Media's offer, he and Mr. Wednesday travel to Chicago, to an apartment belonging to the three Zorya sisters and Czernobog, a slaughterhouse worker who dislikes Wednesday.

There Czernobog plays checkers with Shadow on a bet: if Shadow wins, Czernobog joins them, but if he loses, Czernobog will smash his head. Shadow loses the first game. Back in Chicago that night Shadow dreams of Zorya Polunochnaya, who pulls the Moon from the sky and gives it to him as a silver dollar, and the next day he wins a second game, so that Czernobog agrees to go to Wisconsin.
