The series begins with Girl Meets Ghost (2013), in which Kendall is haunted by Daniella, the ghost of a high school gymnast. Kendall must solve the mystery of Daniella's death while dealing with a crush on Brandon, her best friend Ellie, and her father's relationship with Cindy. The ghost of Brandon's mother also begins haunting Kendall, warning her away from Brandon. Kendall discovers that Daniella died after a fight with her friend Jen over a boy, and helps Daniella move on by mediating between the ghost and Jen.

The second book, The Harder the Fall (2013), introduces Lyra, the ghost of a fashionable teen who wanted to be a scientist. Kendall's home life is disrupted when her father proposes to Cindy with a promise ring, and her relationship with Brandon is strained by a new love interest at school. The third book, Ghost of a Chance (2014), sees Kendall helping the ghost of her archenemy's sister, Lily, while her friendship with Ellie and her relationship with Brandon suffer. Kendall decides to seek out her mother, who left when she was a baby, hoping to find answers about her ability to see ghosts.
