Dramaworld premiered at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on April 16, 2016, followed by a worldwide exclusive release on Viki. The first season consists of 10 short episodes, each 10–20 minutes long. Filming began on October 4, 2015, and ended on November 3, 2015, in Seoul and Los Angeles. The series was co-written by Josh Billig and Chris Martin, with Martin directing the first season.

The plot centers on Claire Duncan (Liv Hewson), a geeky 20-year-old college student obsessed with Korean dramas. After being sucked into her smartphone, she enters the fictional drama Taste of Love, where she meets actor Joon Park (Sean Dulake). Claire attempts to repair the storyline she disrupts, but her presence causes Joon to fall for her instead of his intended love interest, Seo-yeon (Bae Noo-ri). Seth Ko (Justin Chon), a Facilitator of Dramaworld, initially helps Claire but is later revealed as the main villain, altering Dramaworld to his liking.

The second season premiered on April 2, 2021, with 10 episodes of around 35 minutes each. Nearly every episode includes cameos from well-known K-pop and K-drama stars, including Super Junior's Choi Siwon and actress Han Ji-min.
