Harper, a recently divorced lawyer, then hires Winnie as the family’s live-in housekeeper. Winnie cares for Thomas’s three children—Gene, thirteen-year-old Jessie, and sixteen-year-old Robb—who are struggling to adapt to their parents’ divorce and their relocation from New York City to suburban Connecticut. Thomas remains unaware that Winnie is a witch, though his children know the truth.
