My Little Pony: Make Your Mark

An animated series continuing the fifth generation of My Little Pony.

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark is an animated series that belongs to the fifth generation of Hasbro's My Little Pony toy franchise. It takes place after the 2021 Netflix film *My Little Pony: A New Generation* and centers on five ponies: Sunny Starscout (an idealistic earth pony voiced by Jenna Warren), Izzy Moonbow (a creative unicorn voiced by Ana Sani), Hitch Trailblazer (a responsible earth pony voiced by J.J. Gerber), and sisters Zipp Storm and Pipp Petals (two pegasus princesses voiced by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and AJ Bridel). Later, the group is joined by Misty Brightdawn, a shy unicorn who previously worked for the villainous alicorn Opaline Arcana.

The series was developed by Gillian Berrow for Netflix. A 44-minute special episode titled *Make Your Mark* premiered as a teaser on May 26, 2022, followed by eight more episodes on September 26 of the same year. Entertainment One produces the show, with animation by Atomic Cartoons. A total of four 44-minute specials and twenty-three 22-minute episodes were ordered. The sixth and final chapter was released on November 23, 2023.

The story is set many generations after *My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic*, when Twilight Sparkle became ruler of Equestria. The new main group—Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Pipp, Zipp, and later Misty—live in Maretime Bay after restoring magic to the world. Sunny’s home, the Crystal Brighthouse, houses the Unity Crystals, magical objects created by Twilight to protect Equestria from the evil fire alicorn Opaline Arcana. The three pony types—unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies—have reunited but still face challenges living together and handling their newly returned magic.

Sunny and her friends go on adventures, and their friendship deepens as they learn to understand each other’s differences and overcome various obstacles. Meanwhile, the immortal alicorn Opaline, weakened and forgotten, wants to take all of Equestria’s magic for herself and rule the land. She sends her unicorn assistant Misty—who knows little about the world outside Opaline’s castle—to spy on Sunny and her friends, promising Misty her own cutie mark in return. Misty rarely succeeds in her missions but sometimes enjoys life in Maretime Bay and begins to realize the outside world is larger than Opaline described. As the series progresses, Opaline devises various schemes to strengthen her own magic in preparation for an at

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark serves as the primary animated continuation of the fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise, bridging the gap between the 2021 film and the ongoing toyline. The series expands the G5 universe by introducing new characters such as Misty Brightdawn and the villain Opaline Arcana, while exploring themes of unity, friendship, and overcoming prejudice among pony types. Its release on Netflix allowed for a global audience, and the series concluded with its sixth chapter in November 2023. The show's significance lies in its role in revitalizing the My Little Pony brand for a new generation, maintaining the franchise's core messages of harmony and cooperation while updating the setting and conflicts. The series also features a diverse voice cast, including Jenna Warren, Ana Sani, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and incorporates elements from earlier generations, such as the appearance of Twilight Sparkle via hologram.
