History

Boomkat initially signed with American Idol producer Randy Jackson's label, but that deal fell apart for undisclosed reasons. Taryn Manning told Nylon in October 2005 that the band would return once they secured a new label, and she was already writing songs for a future album. After a four-year hiatus, Boomkat dropped the single "Runaway," with a video appearing on their YouTube channel and Manning's Myspace on April 8, 2008. Their second album, A Million Trillion Stars, hit online stores in June 2008.

The group was set to play Indie Fest USA 2008 on August 15, but Manning cited "family trouble" on Myspace as the reason for canceling. On March 3, 2009, the official first single "Run Boy" arrived with a video, premiering on People.com to generally positive reviews. The album A Million Trillion Stars saw a physical release on March 10, 2009 through Little Vanilla Records, an indie label owned by Manning. The second single "Stomp" and its video came out on July 21, 2009.

An unofficial video for "Don't Be So Shy" premiered on their YouTube channel on September 2, 2009. Boomkat toured in 2008 and 2009 to support the album. Their song "Burn" appeared on MTV's The Hills on October 27, 2009. Manning released her first solo single, "So Talented," in September 2009, and on October 28 she announced Boomkat was working on a third album. The band's fifth video from A Million Trillion Stars debuted on Myspace on February 17, 2010.
