Critical response

A Billboard review praised the March 9, 1951, episode starring Judith Anderson as an actress who lost confidence after two bad productions. Joe Csida wrote that the episode demonstrated the force of video as nothing he had ever seen before, commending the camera work, production, writing, and acting. John Lester of The Newark Star-Ledger reviewed the premiere, finding the half-hour itself very good but Rose's participation not as strong, noting he faltered in both the opening and closing segments. Lester nonetheless commended the episode as the work of professionals and wrote that it was as finely written, acted, and produced a drama as television had seen to date.
