Action League Now! is a stop-motion series that aired on Nickelodeon as part of both All That and KaBlam![1] The show used "chuckimation," a technique combining stop-frame animation with live-action shots where objects are thrown or dropped into frame.[1] A superhero team made from action figures, toys, and dolls is the focus of this series.[1]

Key facts and history

The series was advertised as Action League Now!: The Series when packaged into a half-hour block.[1] That episode was only re-shown in 2016 on the late night TV block "The Splat" on TeenNick.[2] After its first airing in 2002, the Action League Now!: The Series installment "Thunder Girl: Tracking the Storm" was pulled from circulation.[2] That episode could previously be watched on Paramount+, but on December 17, 2025, the entire show was taken off the streaming service.[2]

"ThunderFlesh" was created for KaBlam!'s second season but never aired because its content was considered too mature for children.[2]

What the cited sources add

Jennifer Mangan of the Chicago Tribune called Action League Now! "the most innovative entrant in KaBlam! s cartoon catalog"[3] Jane Hall of the Los Angeles Times wrote that the show "has the weird, aggressive humor of the old 'Mr. Bill' pieces on Saturday Night Live"[3] Mike Fleming of Deadline Hollywood praised the show's "absurdly unforgettable characters"[3][4] A 2017 article noted that the banned episode "I Just Don't Get It" featured an attack on the capitol that closely resembled the 9/11 attacks.[5]
