Heathers (band)
Irish indie pop twin sisters formed in 2007.
Heathers are an indie pop duo from Dublin, Ireland, formed in 2007 by twin sisters Ellie and Louise Macnamara. The pair began writing music together that same year and recorded their first album, *Here, Not There*, in February 2008 while studying for their Leaving Certificate. The album was cut at The Hive Studios in Kilcoole with producer Eoin Whitfield and released jointly by Irish label Hide Away Records and US label Plan-It-X Records. Its lead track, "Remember When," was featured in a major advertising campaign for the Irish Tourist Board, which led to a re-release of the album through Warner Music Ireland.
In 2013, the sisters contributed vocals to the Enemies song "Nighthawk," which appears on that band’s album *Embark, Embrace*. Their second album, *Kingdom*, came out in 2014 via Sony Music (Canada and the US) and Warner Music (Europe and Asia) and was nominated for the Irish Choice Music Prize. The lead single, "Forget Me Knots (It's Alright Not To Feel Ok)," became a widely used anthem in mental health awareness campaigns in Ireland and abroad. Later singles from 2016 included "November" and "Call Home."
The duo consists of Ellie Macnamara on vocals and Louise Macnamara on vocals, guitar, and synths. They have toured extensively across Ireland, Canada, the US, and Germany, with a shorter tour in Malaysia. Festival appearances include CMJ New York, SXSW Austin, Canadian Music Week, and Electric Picnic in Ireland. On 18 August 2010, they supported Paolo Nutini at Belsonic in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
