Summary
Players can use a short-range kick to attack and occasionally pick up items for later use. Bottomless pits and spikes cause instant death, and being locked in a cage costs a life. Arch-enemies from the cartoon, including Sylvester and Robocat, appear. In Stage 6-1, a specific button locked up emulators due to improper emulation of the game's code execution; Near, known for the emulator higan, documented the issue and its fix.
Reception
Captain Squideo of GamePro gave a mixed review, noting the easy and rudimentary gameplay: the colorful cartoon style resembled Yogi Bear, and the simplistic run-n-jump gameplay appealed only to young gamers. He found puzzles remedial, enemies defeated with one kick, and abundant time bonuses. He praised the music, voices, and sound effects. A Next Generation reviewer criticized the mechanics and level designs as shamelessly ripped from Sonic the Hedgehog, with choppy animation and momentum like controlling a walrus, giving one out of five stars. The game gained attention years later due to a 1996 bootleg that replaced Speedy Gonzales with Sonic the Hedgehog.
