Background
Amoreirinha's path after Benfica took him through two loan spells at C.F. Estrela da Amadora, then a €1 million move to Romania's CFR Cluj in 2007. At Cluj he joined a large Portuguese contingent and won both the Liga I and the Cupa României in 2007–08. In February 2008 he was loaned to fellow Liga I side FCM UTA Arad. Returning to Portugal in January 2009, he signed with Académica de Coimbra, where he was almost exclusively used as a backup over the next two top-flight campaigns before being released in June 2011. He met exactly the same fate in the same amount of time at his next club, Vitória de Setúbal. After an unassuming spell in India and a few months with Sport Benfica e Castelo Branco, he signed for C.D. Santa Clara of the Segunda Liga on 5 August 2014.
