A Nightmare on Elm Street Codexery

Jacob Johnson

Alice Johnson's son, fed the souls of Freddy's victims before he was even born.

Jacob Johnson is the son of Alice Johnson and Dan Jordan in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, played by Whit Hertford in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989). After Alice defeats Freddy Krueger in The Dream Master, Freddy returns in Jacob's dreams before he is born and feeds him the souls of his victims, planning to be reborn through him. The spirit of Jacob appears to his mother as a young boy, though at first she does not know who he is.

Once Amanda Krueger's soul is freed, she tells Jacob to use the power Freddy gave him; Jacob forces Freddy to revert to an infant, which Amanda absorbs, and Jacob is born several months later. Alice shares her Dream Master abilities with him and, in the comics, sacrifices herself to pass her full powers on to him. He returns in Nightmares on Elm Street and in Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors, where he summons the spirits of Freddy's past victims to help defeat him.

An unused script for Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare would have made a 15-year-old Jacob the main protagonist after Freddy kills Alice.
