Production
A&E greenlit the film, then titled Wedding March, in April 2006. Executive producer Neil Meron stated Stamos was always the first choice for the role. Stamos said he was proud of the film, noting that his character can plan a wedding but cannot have one himself. The film was shot in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Reception
The Advocate described Wedding Wars as a family comedy that tackles same-sex marriage with light humor and a deft touch. In a December 2012 interview, director Fall said he was very proud of the film, calling it subversive because it was an entertaining comedy with clear politics and an explicit political agenda, like a spoonful of sugar.
