Musical style

The album combines pop, rock, and pop punk, with drum and rock guitar instrumentation. "Cherry Pie" has a throwback feel similar to Mark Ronson. Songs like "19 in 99", "Tijuana", "All American", and "Left for Dead" feature a pop punk guitar sound. "California", "Second Wind", "Sweet", and "In Over My Head" lean toward dance-pop and teen pop, while "Get Over Me" is pop-punk and pop rock. "I Will Wait" is an emotional ballad with acoustic guitar, inspired by Ed Sheeran.

Singles

"I Will Wait" was released as the first single on September 12, 2015, on iTunes and September 22 on Vevo, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Trending 140 Chart. Carter performed it on the Dancing with the Stars finale on September 24. On February 3, 2016, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You" was released as a promotional single and bonus track only in Japan, featuring a duet with Japanese singer Nissy; it entered the Billboard Japan Hot 100 at No. 86 and debuted at No. 12 on the Japanese iTunes Weekly Chart. "19 in 99" was the second international single, with a music video directed by Kevin Estrada and a cameo by bandmate AJ McLean.

Tour

Carter supported the album with a North American tour beginning in February 2016, covering 22 cities from Sacramento, California to Nashville, Tennessee. Riley Biederer was the opening act for the entire All American Tour. At the February 25 show in Beverly Hills, AJ McLean performed a duet of "The Call" with Carter; attendees included Sharna Burgess, Rochelle McLean, Jeff Timmons, and Lauren Kitt. Kyla Kenedy attended the Dallas concert on March 4. In New York, Brian Littrell joined as a surprise guest for "I Want It That Way" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely". The setlist from the February 24, 2016 concert at Ace of Spades in Sacramento included covers such as "Wonderwall", "Jesse's Girl", "Californication", "Free Fallin'", "Buddy Holly", and "In the Air Tonight". During "The Call", Carter performed dance moves learned from Dancing with the Stars. "Shape of My Heart" was later replaced by "Wonderwall".
