Draft

The Suns had only a second-round pick in the 2023 NBA draft because they had sent their first-rounder to get Kevin Durant the season before. At pick 52, they chose Belgian forward Toumani Camara, who started at Georgia and then moved to Dayton. At Dayton, he made the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team as a junior and later the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and All-Defensive Team as a senior. On July 3, Camara signed a four-year rookie deal that was partially guaranteed, with later years depending on his performance. On September 27, he was traded with Deandre Ayton to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team deal that moved Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks.
