Critical reception

The documentary has been considered a success, though many viewers expressed shock at the demands placed on the cheerleaders and the comparatively low wages they receive, often requiring them to work multiple jobs. She observed that those who make the team are shown as consummate athletes with remarkable skill, strength, and discipline, and that the hopefuls appear extraordinarily kind and supportive of one another. However, she found little institutional support for cheerleaders whose mental health or food issues are worsened by the stressful training camp atmosphere.
