2019–20 Golden State Warriors season

Injury-riddled Warriors finish with league's worst record.

Last updated

The 2019–20 Golden State Warriors season was the 74th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and its 58th in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Warriors moved from Oracle Arena in Oakland to the new Chase Center in San Francisco, the first time the team had played in the city since the 1970–71 season. After losing the 2019 NBA Finals to the Toronto Raptors, the team saw the departures of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala, breaking up the Hamptons Five.

Durant left in a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets, bringing D'Angelo Russell to the Warriors; Russell was later traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins. Injuries plagued the season: Klay Thompson missed the entire regular season with an ACL tear, and Stephen Curry played only five games after breaking his second metacarpal. The Warriors started 4–16, their worst since 2000, and finished with the league's worst record (15–50) at the season's suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first time in franchise history they held that position.
