Last updated
Big Fat Gypsy Weddings is a British documentary series broadcast on Channel 4 that examined the lives and traditions of Irish Traveller and Romanichal families in the United Kingdom as they prepared for weddings. The series has faced criticism for not accurately representing England’s Romani and Travelling community. Its one-off documentary progenitor, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, was voted Most Groundbreaking Show at the Cultural Diversity Awards 2010.
Episodes
Channel 4 confirmed there would be no third series, instead ending the show with six stand-alone specials aired throughout 2013, though eleven specials have aired to date. The eighth special, titled Big Fat Gypsy Christmas: Carols and Caravans on the official episode guide, shares the same title card and animation as My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas, the last episode of the first season, causing confusion. The most recent special, My Big Fat Gypsy Grand National, aired on 6 April 2015.
