First season in Memphis after relocating from Vancouver.
The 2001–02 Memphis Grizzlies season was the franchise's seventh in the National Basketball Association and its first after relocating from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Memphis, Tennessee. The team played its home games at the Pyramid Arena, a new venue for the city. In the 2001 NBA draft, the Grizzlies selected Shane Battier with the sixth overall pick and acquired Pau Gasol, Brevin Knight, and Lorenzen Wright via trade.
