Overview

George Burns had been involved with television since its early days, having brought his radio routine to the new medium largely unchanged. In this series, however, his role was limited to lending his name, introducing the program, and occasionally providing voice-over narration; he did not act in any episodes. Viewers expecting to see Burns perform were disappointed. Several well-known comedians appeared in episodes, including Joe Piscopo, Robert Klein, Don Rickles, Martin Mull, Don Knotts, and Howard Hesseman. The show is best remembered for two segments: "Christmas Carol II: The Sequel," in which an adult Tiny Tim displays traits of Ebenezer Scrooge, and a pilot for the sitcom Leo & Liz in Beverly Hills starring Valerie Perrine and Harvey Korman.
