Hokey Wolf
A con-artist wolf and his sidekick seek easy living.
Hokey Wolf is one of the three segments of The Huckleberry Hound Show, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The segment details the adventures of Hokey Wolf, a con-artist wolf who is always trying to cheat his way into the simple life. He is often accompanied alongside by his young, diminutive sidekick Ding-A-Ling Wolf, both of whom are featured as part of The Huckleberry Hound Show in their own segment that replaces Yogi Bear segments during the third and fourth seasons. The initial creation of Hokey Wolf occurred when another follow-up segment was needed, because Yogi Bear's rising popularity in preceding appearances warranted a promotion to his own self-titled show. Hokey's theme music for his segment of the show was composed by Hoyt Curtin and used an instrumental version of the refrain from "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here."

Character information
Both characters were designed by Ed Benedict. Hokey Wolf, voiced by Daws Butler, is a smooth-talking con artist who seeks free meals or places to stay, often succeeding despite later consequences. He wears a green bow tie with white collar and a violet hat. His personality was later recycled for Top Cat, and his voice was inspired by Phil Silvers. Ding-A-Ling Wolf, voiced by Doug Young, is the eager young sidekick who often reconsiders Hokey's plans. He wears a bowler hat (sometimes red, sometimes black), a sleeveless green shirt, and a black vest, with his voice inspired by Buddy Hackett. A farmer, voiced by Daws Butler and with a varying name, runs a farm and tries to protect his livestock from the duo.
Further appearances
After the series ended in December 1961, Hokey Wolf appeared in four other Hanna-Barbera series: Yogi's Gang (1973) as a crew member; Laff-A-Lympics (1977–1978) as a member of The Yogi Yahooeys; Yogi's Treasure Hunt (1985–1988) as a regular guest star; and Yo Yogi! (1991), voiced by Matt Hurwitz, as the Mayor of Jellystone Town, with Ding-A-Ling making a cameo. Hokey and Ding-A-Ling appeared in the final episode of The Yogi Bear Show (1962) and in the 1972 television movie Yogi's Ark Lark, which served as a pilot for Yogi's Gang.
Hokey co-starred in the 1982 special Yogi Bear's All Star Comedy Christmas Caper and the 1988 film The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound as a mayor. Both characters appeared on Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, with Hokey making non-speaking cameos and Ding-A-Ling (voiced by Neil Ross) as a plaintiff in "SPF". Ding-A-Ling also appeared in a Wacky Races episode. Both appear in the HBO Max series Jellystone!, where Ding-A-Ling is portrayed as a child.
